This resource provides documentation about the built environment of the University of Oregon and identifies basic resources for researching the architectural heritage of Oregon's flagship university. The guide was created in 2005 and was continuously updated through 2019. The digital collection Building Oregon: Architecture of Oregon & the Pacific Northwest complements this guide with hundreds of images and documentation of campus buildings spanning several decades of UO's history. An in-depth guide to the historic Knight Library, described as a Depression Era masterpiece, is also available online.
The Architecture of the University of Oregon was awarded the 2005 ARLIS/NA Electronic Publications Award.
This project was created by Edward H. Teague, former architecture librarian and head of the Architecture & Allied Arts Library at the University of Oregon. The guide was created in 2005 and was partially updated through 2019; some entries contain out-of-date or obsolete information.
This project was originally hosted on the UO Libraries website and was transferred over to the Libraries digital exhibit platform, Spotlight, by Victoria Dang during the Spring 2020 term. She worked on this digital project while employed by Digital Scholarship Services. Azle Malinao-Alvarez and Elizabeth Peterson completed further site enhancement in 2023.
