Frances Frost
Frances Frost (1905-1959) was an American writer, poet, and children's author. Her final work, The Little Naturalist, is a collection of poems illustrated by Kurt Werth. While not exploring topics of diversity or inclusion, this book represents a popular strain in 20th century children's literature which explores the natural world through the eyes of a child. In Frost's work, this was often through the lens of a strong female character.
