East Asian Manuscripts
The East Asian collection features artifacts from Burma, China, Japan, and Korea. This collection primarily features Buddhist sutras, demonstrating the difference between Burmese, Chinese, and Indian practices of Buddhism. Perhaps one of the most unique objects in our collection is an album of calligraphy called the Tekagami. The Tekagami not only contains a wide range of calligraphy styles from Japan and Korea, but it spans across almost entire millennia. We hope you enjoy perusing through this unique and diverse part of our collection.
