Emergence
Emergence, Lokey Education Building, University of Oregon (Eugene, Oregon)
Emergence is a cast bronze work, 68 inches in height, weighing approximately 130 pounds. It was a state Percent for Art acquisition associated with the expansion of the Education building. In describing the work for the commission in a letter of March 12, 1982, Ecklund wrote: "'Emergence' exhibits the attributes of confidence or self-assuredness and appears unencumbered. This young woman is poised at rest, just prior to departing. It would seem that she is indeed ready to emerge. (Source: Oregon Percent for Art)
