DESCRIPTION

1926. Original Structure (1926). Construction began in June 1926 and ended in December of that year. ASUO funded McArthur Court, named for Clifton N. 'Pat" McArthur, the first president of the ASUO (1899-1900) first editor of the student newspaper, and student director of athletics (1899-1900), member (and speaker) of the Oregon legislature and US Congress representative. Initially designed to seat 6000, the arena was nicknamed the Igloo or Mac Court.

1937. Renovations (1937). New roof, repair trusses.

1949. Renovations (1949). Rollaway bleachers.

1953-1955. Renovations (1950s). North end bleachers (1953); Two balconies, exterior roof trusses, metal corner stair towers added (1955).

1996. Renovations (1996). Architect: Soderstrom Architects. Renovations included reconstruction of domed roof and replacement of stuccoed exterior.
